Issue: You receive a “403” error or a “Request had insufficient authentication scopes” message when trying to create a Google Meet link in Moodle.
Cause: This happens when your Google account has connected to Moodle, but did not grant it permission to manage your Calendar events.
Step-by-Step Solution:
- Revoke Moodle Access in Google:
- Go to your Google Account Permissions.
- Locate the Moodle app (it may be named after your institution or “Google OAuth”).
- Click on it and select Remove Access.
- Re-link Moodle to Google:
- Return to your Moodle course.
- Attempt to create the Google Meet activity again.
- You will be prompted to log in to your Google account.
- Grant All Permissions (Crucial Step):
- When the Google login window appears, you will see a list of permissions.
- Ensure every checkbox is ticked, especially the one allowing Moodle to “See, edit, share, and permanently delete all the calendars.”
- Click Continue or Allow.
- Save in Moodle:
- Once authorized, you should now be able to save the activity and generate the Meet link without the error.
